Large-scale Russian Strikes Disrupt Power Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
The country's energy systems have come under increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's aerial assaults have led to blackouts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while residents in the city's east were experienced blackouts and faced disruption to water supplies, per reports from local authorities.

Simultaneously, a young boy was lost their life in a distinct Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, as reported by area administrators.

Moscow has increased assaults on energy facilities over recent weeks, while the country's government has demanded "substantial measures" from partner nations to apply pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the United States, European nations and the Group of Seven - in providing air defence systems and applying penalties," he wrote in a online statement.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen projectiles targeted the country's power systems, characterizing such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were striving to repair systems.

A series of attacks struck electrical systems and residential structures in Kyiv.

Multiple people injured in the assaults on the city have been hospitalized, according to city authorities.

Authorities told journalists that Russia was intentionally trying to destroy the country's energy grid, with assaults already disrupting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and authorities were preparing for additional strikes.
